Almost 7 years ago, we moved to Lexington, KY, after having lived in the Chicagoland area for over 8 years. I was a bit nervous to move our girls, given that they were leaving behind everything and most everyone they had ever known. My oldest was 11, my youngest only 5. We only knew a handful of people in Lexington who we had really just gotten to know through my husband’s job finding process, but I managed to quickly make acquaintance with a sweetheart of a gal on the committee that brought us here, who has since become one of my dearest friends who I love to pieces. We both had girls the same age, though she had an extra wedged between ( 😉 ), and our girls became fast friends as well. Seven years has seemingly passed by in the blink of an eye, and all of the sudden, our then 11-year-olds are now seniors in high school. They have grown into intelligent, beautiful, lovely young women, and, in less than a year, they will be starting their life’s journeys in new and exciting places. I’m not sure her mama and I will survive with our hearts fully intact, but we will always have each other to share stories of their adventures.
And oh, what adventures those will be.
