The Early One

There must be something in the water this winter. Last week I got an email from a family I saw last fall who wasn’t due with their second child for another couple weeks but he arrived early – a scene I have seen played out several times this winter with my newborn clients. These winter babies seem to be in a hurry to get here. If it were me, I think I’d stay put until warmer weather arrived, but then I’m not really a snow lover.

We had one of the coldest days of the year for our morning session, but we were cozy inside their beautiful home, surrounded by grandparents who came near and far to help ease the sleep-deprived burden of those early days. The sun shone beautifully through the windows and I almost forgot the air outside that nearly took my breath away when I stepped outside that morning.  At five days old, this little one slept peacefully while we hovered and fussed over him. His beautiful and proud big sister tagged along from time to time. They are both so precious. So many wonderful memories these two will make together.
