All good things

I met the dad of this handsome new little fellow when he was about 15 years old. This was back when I was in college and my now-husband-but-then-fiance was serving as an interim youth minister at our home church in Indiana. Dad had just moved there from Ohio with his mom, little brother and new stepdad, who was the new senior pastor at our home church. He and my  husband forged a brotherly bond that included weekend housesitting (loaf juice, anyone?) and lots of serious goofing off sessions. Probably because my husband was and will always be a 15-year-old boy at heart.

As life does, it changes and grows and that 15-year-old boy is now an adult and a first-time dad. It makes my heart happy, even if it means I have a lot more gray hair than I did when we first met over 15 years ago. He and his beautiful wife welcomed the sweetest little soul into the world last week, and I was thrilled to get to meet him, snuggle him, and take the first pictures of his first days in our world.

All our love to the happy parents, the happy grandparents and the entire rest of the happy family. He’s perfect.
