I ended my line-up of sessions last week with a great senior guy who I have met a few times before but this was the first chance I had to get to know him a little more beyond the crowd of friends. If you have followed my work for any length of time and years, you know I love my seniors. I shouldn’t name favorites but if I was forced to choose one type of session that I could only shoot from now on, it would be a senior shoot. There is something so wonderful about this age group. They are standing on the edge of adulthood, ready to make that leap into the unknown. Maybe it’s nostalgia for me. I don’t know. But whatever it is, I get a kick out of it.
Soft spoken with a hint of mischievousness that only a 17-year-old “boy” can get away with, this senior guy is undecided about his post-graduation plans. Orthopedics, environmentalism, or business. I suggested combining it all and starting a business making environmentally conscientious recycled shoes. I don’t think he went for it. It’s okay. I think the idea will grow on him eventually. Maybe.
Here is to a bright future for an impressive young man, no matter what direction you head in. I am sure that whatever you do, you’ll make a success of it.
