I guess I have run out of excuses. School is back in session. My youngest is now and 8th grader and my oldest has left for her first year of college, so my house is remarkably quiet, with exception of my four-legged furry noise boxes. It’s time to get back to the life’s routines, which I have actually missed. Summer is starting to fade and the distant hum of fall will turn into a roar very soon. I’m here, behind the scenes, working on dates and locations for the fall minis that you know and love, and also filling my calendar with lots of lovely children and families and seniors who want make their memories as well. It’s going to be a busy fall, y’all!
I also need to tell you something. I’m going to be honest with you – blogging every session is just not possible anymore. I mean, technically it is, but it would eat up my whole life, and so, I have to let it go. And while I definitely want you to see what I’ve been up to and all the wonderful people I get to photograph, it has become a chore of massive size and it’s overwhelming me. I actually tried to hire one of my teenagers to take over blogging for me this summer, but even the promise of cash and my undying love and gratitude didn’t do it for her. So, here we are.
What you’re going to find from here on out is an occasional “blog mash-up.” Meaning, I’m going to mix together a handful of sessions into one blog post, showcasing some of my favorites from each session, instead of blogging one session per post. Every family I see is special to me, so I don’t want you to miss seeing them, but I need to have time to take pretty pictures and edit and answer emails and deliver photos and do all the business-y stuff that most people don’t realize we photographers do, like quarterly tax paperwork, supply inventory and purchasing, marketing and bill paying (i.e., all the annoying, boring stuff). And occasionally I need to leave my computer and go to the bathroom. True story.
So let’s get this fall ball rolling, okay? Who’s in?
First up: An 18-month session for one of my favorite little peanuts with a giant personality. She likes to pretend like she doesn’t want her photos taken but she can’t fool me.
Next up – this handsome little love nugget had his six month session earlier this summer. He was so sleepy by the end of the session but he was patient with us. We did some photos with Grandma and Grandpa as well as his uncle who was in town.
At the other end of the kid-spectrum, we have this strapping young guy who graduated this past May and is now happily entrenched in his Big Blue Nation home!
This next family I saw in the Spring for a family session, and then I photographed the youngest’s first birthday photos recently. The twins are so much fun and have such BIG personalities! I had a great time chatting with them and getting to know their sweet family.
Little Man wasn’t so sure about a solo session, and I think he cried about 95% of the time, but I was determined that we weren’t going home without a recorded smile! It took some work but we managed to convince him a few times that life wasn’t all that bad.
Smiles were not scary at all for this next 6-month-old (who is now charging towards his first birthday. Eek!) I always love seeing this family and watching their boys grow!
Until next time!
